Adell ‘Carol’ Abercrombie

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Carol Abercrombie passed away peacefully on the evening of Dec. 5, 2019, at the age of 93.

She was born on Aug. 11, 1926, in Kelseyville, California, to Seth and Ruth Waite.

On March 17, 1946, she married Lee Abercrombie of Lakeport, California.

They made their home in Lake County, where Betty and John were born. In 1951, Lee went to work at Masonite so they moved to Ukiah, where Dean was born.

In early 1952 they purchased a house on Oak Knoll Road which she still owns today. Lee passed away in 2006, and in 2013 Carol moved to Mountain View Assisted Living.

Carol was predeceased by her parents, Ruth and Seth; sister, Wilda Delaney; and brother, John Waite.

She is survived by daughter, Betty Cleveland of Washington state; and sons, John (MaryAnne) of Manteca and Dean of Fairfield. Also surviving are grandchildren, Chad and Dana Cleveland, Ben and Mike Abercrombie; granddaughters, Shannon Abercrombie and Kelly Roseberry; nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Jo Ann (Doyle) Brixie; and eight nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral service will be held at Kelseyville Cemetery on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 11 a.m.

The family would like to thank Mountain View Assisted Living for the excellent care they gave Mom for the past six years.

Larry Durnil

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Our family regrets to inform you of the passing of Larry Durnil on Dec. 3, 2019, following a two-year battle with cancer.

Larry was born in Santa Ana, California, on Dec. 18, 1946. He was raised in Southern California where he enjoyed hot rodding as a teenager and was a member of the hot rod club called the Hunters.

As a young man Larry served in the United States Army with the 1st Cavalry Division. He was a highly decorated veteran of the Vietnam War and proud of his service.

Larry worked as a lumber mill manager for most of his career. Over his career Larry ran several lumber mills throughout California and even one in Ensenada, Mexico. He retired as the plant manager of True Guard in Ukiah.

Larry resided in Lakeport, California, where he was active in the community. Still a hot rodder, he was a member and president of the local club Corvettes of Lake County. He enjoyed watching and playing sports including football, ocean fishing and golf. Larry was happiest when he was spending time with his family and friends or racing his Corvette.

Larry is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Holly Masterson; son, Randy Durnil; daughter-in-law, Carol Sullivan; and grandsons, RJ Honer, Thomas Durnil, Bruce Masterson and William Durnil. We thank everyone in the community for their thoughts and prayers.

Larry Smith

Larry Wayne Smith
Oct. 27, 1949 - Nov. 28, 2019

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – On Nov. 28, 2019, our beloved Larry Wayne Smith entered into Peace.

He was born to Bill and Geraldine Smith in Bakersfield, California.

He was raised in Ukiah, California.

He served in the Air Force and fought for our country in the Vietnam War.

He loved to dance, fish and watch westerns.

He is predeceased by his loving wife, Joy Smith, and later, his partner in life, Betty O'Quinn.

He is survived by his son, Clayton Smith; grandsons, Ethan and Nathan; granddaughters, Lexxus and Sky; two great-granddaughters; his siblings, Jerry, Gail, Sharon and Karen; many nieces and nephews; even a great-great!

Larry's No. 1 rule was to "Be Good!" He will be sorely missed by all those that knew him. Larry was a great father, man, uncle and friend.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary.
