'The Law Show' features interview with Rushing

LAKE COUNTY – This Saturday, Jan. 16, on “The Law Show” host Herb Gura will welcome District 3 Supervisor Denise Rushing

The show will start at 5 p.m. on KPFZ 88.1 FM.

Rushing is in the home stretch of her first term and recently announced that she will be running for a second. No one else has yet formally announced their intention to try for that seat.

They will talk about what Rushing feels she has accomplished and what she has learned and what still needs to be done.

Gura said he hopes to ask her about the city of Clearlake’s recent move towards bringing a big box hardware store to Lake County.

Riviera West Mutual Water Co. to meet Friday

KELSEYVILLE – The Riviera West Mutual Water Co.'s Board of Directors will meet at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15.


The meeting will be held at the Riviera West Clubhouse at 8475 Harbor View Drive, Kelseyville.


The board will receive committee reports and the treasurer's financial report.


Under old business, they will get an update on the State Regional Water Board complaint update against the company and the state/county permit application progress.


Under new business, board members will discuss an ongoing search to replace the assistant water

operator and hold the owners’ forum, which includes three nontransferable minutes per owner.


Board members are President Jan Worswick, Vice President Jim Snodgrass, Treasurer Linda McPherson, Secretary Barb Curtis and Director Dave Worswick.


The board's next meeting date will be Friday, March 19.

Caltrans plans major roadwork through Jan. 21

NORTH COAST – Caltrans reports that the following road projects will be taking place around Lake County during the coming week.


Included are Mendocino County projects that may impact Lake County commuters.


LAKE COUNTY


Highway 175


– PG&E of Eureka has been granted a Caltrans Encroachment Permit for tree trimming from 0.3 mile east of the junction of Route 29/175 near Kelseyville to 0.2 mile east of the Putah Creek Bridge. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays.


MENDOCINO COUNTY


Highway 1


– Pavement repair 0.2 mile north of Big Gulch Road will continue. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. Contractor – Rege Construction Inc. of Cloverdale.


– Construction of a retaining wall about three miles north of Elk will continue. One-way traffic control with a temporary signal will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists should

anticipate 10-minute delays. Contractor – Granite Construction of Ukiah.


– Charles and Elizabeth Strother of Madison have been granted a Caltrans Encroachment Permit to install a driveway near Navarro Ridge Road beginning Friday, Jan. 15. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.


Highway 20


– PG&E of Eureka has been granted a Caltrans Encroachment Permit for utility maintenance 0.6 mile east of Wildwood Camp Ground on Tuesday, Jan. 19. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.


– Construction of a retaining wall 0.4 mile east of Three Chop Road will continue. One-way traffic control with a temporary signal will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. Contractor – Granite Construction of Ukiah.


Highway 128


– PG&E of Eureka has been granted a Caltrans Encroachment Permit for utility maintenance near the west limit of Philo on Wednesday, Jan. 20. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

Orchard Park plans Jan. 22 event

CLEARLAKE – Orchard Park Assisted Living and Memory Care Community will hold a community get-together on Friday, Jan. 22.


Join them for hors d'oeuvres, libations and networking from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.


They also will take donations for their giving trees of warm hats, scarves and mittens to be donated to local children.


Orchard Park is located at 14789 Burns Valley Road, Clearlake, next to Redbud Library.
