Waste Solutions reports regular schedule for upcoming holiday

LAKE COUNTY – Lake County Waste Solutions and Clearlake Waste Solutions has announced that normal garbage and recycling schedules will be maintained on Monday, Jan. 18, the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.


Additionally, the transfer station at 230 Soda Bay Road in Lakeport will be open for garbage disposal and recycling from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

LLHS plans Renaissance Affair Jan. 29 and 30

LOWER LAKE – Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Noble Lords and Ladies – The Lower Lake High School Music Department hereby invites you to gather for a feast as part of its Renaissance Affair.


The event will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, and 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Lower Lake High School Cafeteria, 9430 Lake St., Lower Lake.


The feast will include a wassail cup, soup, English roasted turkey, sausage, potatoes and sweets with music, festivities, entertainment and pageantry to please all.


Tickets are $25 per person in advance $35 at the door, and are available in the Lower Lake High School Attendance Office or by calling 707-994-6471, Extension 2779, for reservations. Seating is limited.

Miss Lake County Rodeo Queen and Princess contestants sought

LAKE COUNTY – The Lake County Rodeo Association is proud to bring the 81st annual Lake County Rodeo to Lake County on July 9 and 10.


The association is looking for young ladies ages 12 to 22 years old to compete for the titles of Miss Lake County Rodeo Queen and Princess 2010.


Queen contestants must be ages 15 to 22 years old by June 30, 2010; princess contestants must be 12 to 14 years old by June 30.


The contestants compete in three areas: poise and personality, horsemanship and rodeo knowledge.


The winners will be crowned at the Lake County Rodeo on Friday, July 9, at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Lakeport.


The queen will receive a custom saddle with matching breast collar and headstall, a jeweled tiara, saddle blanket, belt buckle, embroidered jacket, a teeth whitening certificate from Dr. Keith Long of Lakeport and a white leather hand crafted sash.


The princess competition will receive a custom breast collar with matching headstall, saddle blanket, embroidered jacket, white satin sash and a jeweled tiara.


Contestants are encouraged to participate in local festivals and parades to help promote their campaign for rodeo queen and princess.


The contestants must reside in California High School Rodeo District No. 2 which includes Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino, Lake, Sonoma, Marin and Napa counties.
