Portion of Library Park parking lot to be closed Aug. 30-31

LAKEPORT, Calif. — The Lakeport Public Works Department is advising that the parking lot area between Fourth and Fifth Streets by Library Park will be closed to through traffic due to construction.

The closure will take place on Monday, Aug. 30, and Tuesday, Aug. 31.

The Fifth Street Boat ramp will remain open.

Registrar of Voters Office offers update for voters displaced by Cache fire

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — Are you a voter displaced by the Cache fire temporarily or permanently?

If you have been affected by the Cache fire, the Lake County Registrar of Voters Office will ensure you are able to vote.

If you are a voter that has been temporarily displaced from your home, and intend to return to your residence in the future, and/or mail is disrupted, you may continue to use your permanent residence address.

Below are your options:

— You can come to our office and pick up a replacement ballot, anytime from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday to Friday (excluding holidays) and on Election Day, Sept. 14, from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. In addition, this office will also be open during normal business hours of 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. requesting a replacement ballot be mailed to you with your name, Lake County residence address, date of birth, and the name of the election as well as the mailing address you would like your new ballot sent to.

— Call the elections office at 707-263-2372 and request a replacement ballot be mailed to you, by providing staff with your name, Lake County residence address, date of birth, as well as the mailing address you would like your new ballot sent to.

— If your mail is being held at the Clearlake Post Office, please contact the Clearlake Post Office for assistance on retrieving your ballot there.

If you are a voter who has been displaced permanently, you can update your Lake County or California residence address and/or mailing address by re-registering to vote online at https://registertovote.ca.gov/ or you can call our office and have a form mailed to you. Registration forms are also available at local post offices or local libraries.

A completed voter registration form must be either personally delivered to the Registrar of Voters Office on or before Aug. 30 or, postmarked on or before Aug. 30 and received by mail by the Registrar of Voters Office or complete an online voter registration form on or before 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 30.

Get vaccinated, get into the Lake County Fair for free

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — Few events bring Lake County’s diverse communities together like the Lake County Fair. It is a meaningful part of the annual rhythm of life in our county.

Now, the Lake County Board of Supervisors and the Health Services Department are partnering to offer multiple opportunities for people that get vaccinated against COVID-19 to earn free admission to the fair.

There are four different opportunities to get vaccinated and get your free ticket before arriving at the fair:

— Thursday, Aug. 26, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.: Lake County Health Services, 922 Bevins Court, Lakeport, serving residents age 12 and over. Parent/guardian consent is required for minors.

— Friday, Aug. 27, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 to 7 p.m.: Lower Lake Town Hall, 16195 Main St., Lower Lake, serving residents age 18 and over.

— Monday, Aug. 30, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.: Lake County Health Services, 922 Bevins Court, Lakeport, serving residents age 12 and over.

— Wednesday, Sept. 1, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.:: Lake County Health Services, 922 Bevins Court, Lakeport, serving residents age 12 and over (OPTUM mobile van).

Additionally, the county of Lake and OPTUM are partnering to provide a mobile vaccination van on-site, each day of this year’s Lake County Fair (Thursday, Sept. 2, through Sunday, Sept. 5).

Get vaccinated and get in for free.

The vaccination van will be set up near the front fairgrounds gate during the following hours:

— Thursday, Sept. 2, and Friday, Sept. 3: Noon to 9 p.m.
— Saturday, Sept. 4, and Sunday, Sept. 5: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Why get vaccinated?

Unvaccinated Lake County residents age 12 and older were seven times more likely to get COVID-19 in the period from Aug. 1 to 15.

Vaccination has also proven highly protective against severe complications, hospitalization and death from the virus.

Big Valley Small Farms Tour planned Sept. 19

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — A group of local farmers will welcome visitors to their operations during a special September tour.

The Big Valley Small Farms Tour will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19.

Included in the tour will be the Ripe Choice Farm, Peace and Plenty Farm, Edenberry Farm, Finca Castelero Farm, Bell Haven Flower Farm and Campdonico Olive Farm.

Each farm is unique in presenting award winning, nationally recognized certified organic produce, fruit, olive oils, event venues and farm stays.

On this day they will pull away the curtain and show you behind the scenes of what they offer.

Meet and greet the owners of our farms. Leave as friends.

Explore and experience the eat healthy social movement known as “farm to fork”.
