MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. — On April 23, Gov. Gavin Newsom joined Caltrans to announce the reopening of a washed-out section of Highway 1 near the heart of Big Sur — after only 86 days.

In this Caltrans News Flash, get a behind the scenes look at how the project team contributed to public safety while working cooperatively with the businesses and residents of Big Sur, and the importance of having this legendary highway open to the local community and visitors.

Western Region Town Hall meets July 21

UPPER LAKE, Calif. — The Western Region Town Hall will meet on Wednesday, July 21.

The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Habematolel community center, 9460 Main St. in Upper Lake.

The agenda includes remembering Gene Paleno, drought, fire preparedness, Neighborhood Watch and other community issues.

All are welcome to attend and share their concerns.

Park Study Club plans annual indoor yard sale

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — The Park Study Club is planning to hold its annual indoor yard sale.

The event will take place over three days:

— 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, July 30;
— 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 31; and
— 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 1.

The yard sale will take place at 13587 Santa Clara Ave. in Clearlake.
