CLEARLAKE, Calif. — The city of Clearlake is inviting residents and visitors to showcase what makes the community special through the new Clearlake Photo Challenge, launching April 1.

Centered around the theme “Our People. Our Progress,” the challenge encourages participants of all ages to submit original photos that highlight the people, places and moments that reflect Clearlake’s growth, spirit and everyday life.

The contest runs through April 30, with community members encouraged to submit photos taken on their phones or cameras.

A panel of judges will review all entries in early May and select the top three finalists in each category. Finalists will then advance to a public vote to determine the winning images.

Winning participants will receive gift cards and citywide recognition. Selected photos will be featured on a City Hall lobby mural, Clearlake’s social media channels, the Clearlake Express e-newsletter, marketing materials, and at community events.

Winners will also be invited to a special lunch with Mayor Dirk Slooten and have their photo taken in front of their featured mural.

“The Photo Challenge celebrates the people who make Clearlake what it is today,” said City Manager Alan Flora. “From road improvements to park enhancements, we’re seeing progress throughout our community and this is a creative way to capture that pride and highlight the promise ahead.”

Participants can submit their entries through the city’s online portal, where all qualifying photos will also be showcased.

Whether it’s a snapshot of family, friends, community events or everyday life in Clearlake, the Photo Challenge offers a chance to be part of the City’s story and see it displayed for all to enjoy.
