LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Flotilla 88 marched in the July 5 parade in Clearlake and won a first prize trophy for the marching units in the event's third division.

In the parade, Flotilla 88 member Harry de Lope drove a vehicle pulling a boat that was donated to the group to use for patrolling Clear Lake.

In other Flotilla 88 news, the group's July 19 meeting has been canceled. Meetings will resume Aug. 16.

HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE, Calif. – Branch 133 of the Sons In Retirement will hold its next meeting on Friday, July 18.

The group meets at the Greenview Room, Hidden Valley Lake Golf Course, 19210 Hartman Road, on the third Friday of each month.

The meeting starts at 11 a.m., with lunch served at noon.

Sons In Retirement is a social organization for men of retirement age who are pursuing the goal of enjoying their later years. It has 142 branches with 18,000 members throughout the state.

LUCERNE, Calif. – The Lucerne Community Church hosts a free Family Movie Night the first Friday of every month.

The movies are shown at 7 p.m. at the church, 5870 E. Highway 20.

There is free popcorn and Kool-Aid, and available for purchase at the Snack Shoppe are candy, soda and hot dogs.

Bring the whole family for children-safe, family films from Disney, Family Feature Films and other movie makers. There are occasional double features.

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The regular meeting of the Clearlake Planning Commission scheduled for Tuesday, July 15, has been canceled.

The commission is next scheduled to meet Tuesday, Aug. 5, in the council chambers at Clearlake City Hall, 14050 Olympic Drive.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Certain streets in the city of Lakeport will be closed on Saturday, July 12, for the annual Lake County Rodeo Parade.

Between 10:45 a.m. and noon, Main Street between S. Main and C streets, N. Main and Ninth streets, and Martin Street. between the Lake County Fairgrounds and S. Main Street will be closed to traffic for the Lake County Rodeo Parade.

The parade runs from Martin Street at the Lake County Fairgrounds to S. Main Street, to N. Main Street at Ninth Street then turns around and follows the same route back to the fairgrounds.

Officials said the parade starts at 11 a.m. and is expected to last approximately 45 minutes; however, street closures and traffic controls will begin at 10:45 a.m. and are not expected to be removed until noon.

About 500 people are expected to be in attendance.

Motorists are advised to use caution when driving in this area and find alternate routes when possible.

Lakeport Police and Public Works staff will be on site to conduct traffic controls and provide for public safety.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Road work planned for Saturday, July 12, will result in road control on Parallel Drive in Lakeport.

Lakeport Department of Public Works crews will be doing street maintenance work – specifically, micro chip sealing – on Parallel Drive between Lakeport Boulevard and Highway 175 on Saturday between 7 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Traffic controls will be in place while this work is being conducted.

Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling in the area or when possible use alternate routes.
