KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Lake County Republican Women, Federated (RWF) met for lunch Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the Riviera Community Association building Highway 281, Kelseyville.

President Maria Barnes introduced the program featuring two DVD presentations.

The DVD “The Doctors” highlighted Iraq Star Foundation’s free reconstructive surgery to U.S. military personnel returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Dr. Phil and Gary Sinise are among the supporters of this work.

In 2007, Lake County RWF chose to raise funds yearly for this important work. All proceeds from the August lunch accumulate to the year-end contribution to Iraq Star Foundation. The second DVD, “Agenda: Grinding Down America” recounted the changes in the American cultural as recognized by producer Idaho legislator Curtis Bowers.

The most important questions asked by Bowers are regarding the foundation on which America was founded, focusing on family, free enterprise and education. Views of many national figures are presented.

Lake County RWF will meet 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Woody’s Café & Grill, 3555 N. Main St., Kelseyville.

The after lunch program will focus on understanding the 11 ballot measures to be submitted to the voters on Nov. 6.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The Lake County Air Quality Management District is seeking applicants to fill a public member position on the district’s hearing board.

The hearing board meets infrequently and sits to consider permit condition variances, abatement orders and permit appeals.

Hearings are formal and judicial in nature.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The Lake County Fair is holding a Wye Fire Facebook photo contest.

Upload your best photo of the Wye Fire or a Wye Fire related subject (like fire engines, aircraft working the fire, or lines of evacuated vehicles) to the Lake County Fair Facebook page for a chance to win two admission tickets and two carnival wristbands good any day of the Lake County Fair.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – A meeting for residents in the Spring Valley, New Long Valley, and Old Long Valley areas who were impacted by recent wildfires will be held on Monday, Aug. 20.

The meeting will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, located at 15900 E. Highway 20 in Clearlake Oaks.

District 3 Supervisor Denise Rushing will lead the meeting, with participation from state and local agencies including first responders and those that provided support and assistance.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lake County Amateur Radio Society will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Lakeport Senior Center, 527 Konocti Ave., Lakeport.

They will discuss how they will help out at the Lake County Fair and how they assist during emergency operations.
