MIDDLETOWN, Calif. – Middletown Healthy Start hosted Nurturing Parenting classes a few months ago in both English and Spanish.

During these classes parents not only learned new parenting skills but they formed new bonds with other parents.

Annie Lawrence was the facilitator for the Spanish class of 13 parents. While teaching these classes, Lawrence learned they wanted to learn English.

Lawrence is volunteering now to teach these parents English. She heard about the Middletown Rotary Club’s annual dictionary program to all third-graders and requested dictionaries for her class.

Incoming Middletown Rotary president LaDonn Morgan rounded up about 15 dictionaries and recently presented them to Lawrence.
