LAKEPORT, Calif. – A fundraiser dinner for sheriff's Sgt. Brian Kenner and his family will be held on Saturday, June 18.

The event will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Terrace Middle School cafeteria, 250 Lange St. in Lakeport.

Brian Kenner has served this community as a sheriff’s deputy for the past decade.

He and his family are now in need of the community's support because he is recovering from a traumatic brain injury that he suffered during a fall at work.

There will be a spaghetti feed and bake sale, with live and silent auctions.

Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for children.

The meeting will be held in the Weaver Auditorium of the Lower Lake Historic Schoolhouse Museum, 16435 Main St.

A light luncheon will be served, followed by a short meeting for the presentation of the annual report and election of officers to the board.

Participation on the board offers a great volunteer opportunity for those interested in the history of Lower Lake and environs.

The group will discuss plans for the annual Clearlake Worm Races during the July 4 festivities.

In a meeting with Lakeport City Manager Margaret Silveira and Matt Gilfillan of PyroSpectaculars earlier this year, it was determined that the company will be presenting a much larger show this year with no increase in cost.

PyroSpectaculars also provides the show in the city of Clearlake on Saturday, July 2, and in Clearlake Oaks on Sunday, July 3, in addition to the Lakeport Fireworks on Monday, July 4.

Also, the Lakeport Speedway in partnership with Robinson Rancheria Resort & Casino will present fireworks by PyroSpectaculars at the races on Saturday evening at the Fairgrounds. This means three nights in a row of great fireworks displays for all of Lake County.

The list of contributors to the campaign will be sent to Lakeconews.com, the Lake County Record-Bee and the Middletown Times Star to acknowledge contributions, as the chamber has done in the past.

State law requires DMV to implement changes in the billing and renewal process for registration fees due on or after July 1.

Registration renewal notices will be mailed out close to or on the expiration date. Previously notices were mailed 60-days ahead of the expiration date.

Fees are still due for registration notices due prior to July 1.

No money will be collected until renewal notices are issued. Previously renewal fees could be collected up to 75 days ahead of the expiration date and were required to be collected within 30 days of expiration when part of another transaction such as a transfer of vehicle ownership.

All customers will be given a 30-day grace period after they receive their registration notice. Penalties for delinquent payment will not be imposed until 30 days after the registration expiration date. Previously penalties were due the day after the registration expiration date.

Law enforcement is aware and will not cite vehicles until the first day of the second month after the vehicle registration expires.

For example: A vehicle with a registration expiration date of July 10 would not be cited for delinquent registration prior to Sept. 1, 2011.
