LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lake County Quagga Ranger Volunteers will hold a training and meeting on Saturday, Aug. 28, at 10 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers at the Lake County Courthouse, 255 N. Forbes, Lakeport.
The Lake County Quagga Rangers are gearing up for the Labor Day holiday, Sept. 3 through 6.
If you have some free time and would like to help please join them.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Lake County Public Service Director Kim K. Clymire reported that the Eastlake Landfill will be closed Monday, Sept. 6, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.
The landfill and the Public Services office will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 7.
Normal operating hours at the landfill are 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
The Public Services office is normally open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

NICE, Calif. – Come enjoy a Hawaiian-style dinner and dance on Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Sons of Italy.
The group will have a tender Kalua pork luau with all the fixings at the club hall, 2817 E. Highway 20 in Nice.
The bar is open for socializing at 5 p.m. then dinner will be served at 6 p.m.
Enjoy dancing to music of Jim Williams right after the meal.
All tickets cost $15 at the door.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Join the hosts of KPFZ 88.1 FM's “Women's Voices” this Thursday to celebrate 90 years of “herstory” and discuss the anniversary of women's suffrage.
The show will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Aug. 26 of each year is designated Women's Equality Day in the United States.
Instituted by Rep. Bella Abzug and first established in 1971, the date commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment, the Woman Suffrage Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which gave U.S. women full voting rights in 1920.
The Thursday radio show will host guest Wanda Harris, who brings with her a lifetime of fighting for women's rights and equality.
Hosts Lenny Matthews, Rae Eby-Carl and Loretta McCarthy encourage listeners to call in.
