UPPER LAKE – The Northshore Dive Team will hold a training this Sunday, May 16.


The training will be held at Library Park on Park Street in Lakeport beginning at 9:30 a.m. Participants also can meet at the Northshore Fire Protection District's Station 90 in Upper Lake at 9 a.m. to make the trip over.


All interested personnel are encouraged to attend. You don't have to be a diver to be a team member.


The team, which operates through community donations, also is seeking help in updating its dive gear. Donations can be sent to the team at P.O. Box 61, Upper Lake, CA 95485.

LAKEPORT – The Maternal, Child, Adolescent Health Advisory Board (MCAH) will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, May 13.


The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Lake Family Resource Center Community Meeting Room at 890 Bevins St. in Lakeport.


Agenda items include reports about the Dental Disease Prevention Program, First Five Lake Projects, Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, Adverse Childhood Experience Survey (ACES), Dr. Ira Chasnoff’s Perinatal Prevention Program, Mother-Wise Program as well as current issues affecting children and families in Lake County.

LAKEPORT – The Lakeport Main Street Association, in conjunction with the city of Lakeport, will hold a Downtown Lakeport Clean-Up Day on Saturday, May 22.


The event will take place rain or shine.


Participants of all ages are encouraged to participate.


Local businesses, service clubs and other associations are challenged to “adopt a block.”


Participants should meet at 6 a.m. in Museum Park where refreshments will be served.


Please bring window washing equipment, work gloves, shovels, brooms, buckets, rags, dustpans, garden tools, and lots of energy!


Tourist season is just around the corner, and we want our storefronts and sidewalks to look spotless and welcoming. Let’s kick off the season by showing pride in Lakeport.

MIDDLETOWN – Lake County Special Olympics is hosting a fundraiser at The Cowpoke Cafe in Middletown on Friday, May 14, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.


Come and enjoy some great food while being served by Lake County law enforcement officers.

LAKE COUNTY – This Thursday, May 13, KPFZ 88.1 FM's show “Women's Voices” will welcome guest Victoria Brandon.


The show will begin at 9 a.m.


The show's topic is “Standing up for what you believe in” in honor of May 15, International Conscientious Objectors Day.


Brandon will share about her life and topics that are dear to her heart including how she effects change through taking action.


Show hosts are Rae Eby-Carl, Loretta McCarthy and Lenny Matthews. Gloria Flaherty, due to a busy schedule, had to leave as the fourth host.

LUCERNE – A meet and greet for sheriff's candidate Francisco Rivero will be held on Wednesday, May 26.


The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Lucerne Alpine Senior Center.
