One of our students, Chris Clark, said, “The hot dog sale went great! Foods donated most of the hot dogs and buns, and we made plenty of money for our prom. Plus, dancing around in a banana suit is
always great fun.”
This money will go towards Carlé's prom, which will be on May 9.
Speaking about prom, prom dresses were donated to Carlé. These dresses are for any Carlé students who would like a dress for prom. So hurry and get up in there because the dresses are going fast.
Relay for Life will be on May 16. They are asking for donations and trying to get $1,000 before April 10, but donations will still be accepted until May 11. Checks can be made out to the American Cancer Society. This money goes towards the American Cancer Society. It's never to late to sign up. If you have any more questions you can contact Morganna Grantham here at Carlé High School.
We would like to congratulate Chantelle Clemons, who was the student of the week. She earned this award because of her hard work with community service and dedication to give out birthday cards to each and every student throughout our school. Keep up the wonderful work, Chantelle.
Ed Zander attended a Western Association of Schools and Colleges meeting in Sacramento on March 24. There they discussed and learned about the accreditation process for schools in California. Zander hopes to continue Carlé's tradition of getting another six-year term. This means will we not be checked again for another six years because we are considered in tip-top shape.
See you next week.

Alex Huff, a student who participated in HAZMAT, said, “It was a really fun and fast-paced class. We all passed the test with flying colors. My favorite day was the training day with Willie Sapeta because it was the day we put on cool suits and gas masks. And as a reward, we got to go to Austin Park and have a picnic lunch.”
We would like to thank Willie for helping us get certified and Angie Siegel for all the time she put in to educate us.
We would also like to wish luck to those who took the CASHEE test on the March 17 and 18.
On Tuesday, March 24, Alan Siegel will be taking Chris Clark and Amy Reese to an award lunch for all their help in Rotary. We would like to congratulate these students for their hard work and dedication in
community service.
This week's Student of the Week was Aaron Trammell. He was awarded for his hard work and dedication. Thank you Carlé students.

Angie Siegel started this intensive one-week class for students who want to learn about hazardous materials. This class will prepare the students for whatever jobs they decided to take on in their futures. We also would like to thank Angie because she made a $400 class free for the students. Thank you, Angie.
After HAZMAT, Carlé had another chance for CASHEE testing. The testing will be on March 17 and March 18 at Carlé High School in the library. We wish luck to all that will take the test.
We would also like to congratulate Ben Sheridan for being awarded our student of the week. He started this year as a junior and has gained so much credit he is now a senior and will be graduating at the end of the year. He also earned the most credit for the fifth grade period here at Carlé and received over 30 credits! Keep up the good work Ben.
Finally, we are proud to announce that we received an $850 donation from Dr. Barry Munitz, the head of California's P-16 council. The $850 will be used to make plaques for the graduating seniors at Carlé High School. The plaques will be designed and made by the students.
Thank you so much Dr. Munitz for your generous donation. Many students will now have a keepsake of their time at Carlé for the rest of their lives. We are all truly grateful.

LAKE COUNTY – Calling all students in grades fourth through sixth!
There will be an art and science camp at Anderson Marsh State Historic Park and Taylor Observatory on Saturday, May 2.
This free, fun and educational event is sponsored by the Children's Museum of Art and Science, the Anderson Marsh Interpretive Association, the Redbud Audubon Society and the Lake County Office of Education.
At Anderson Marsh students will rotate through four stations. They will take a guided nature walk, hear about Native American culture and make a tule doll, dissect owl pellets and learn about Lake County wildlife, and participate in a rhythm band.
At Taylor Observatory they will see a planetarium show, make a sun dial, learn hip hop dance moves and participate in a drum circle. Students will be bussed to and from Taylor Observatory.
Clearlake Kiwanis will be providing a delicious lunch for all students and volunteers.
A total of 128 students will be able to participate. Parent information sheets and student permission slips have already been handed out in each of the county's seven school districts.
Student slots have been allocated based on district enrollment. In addition, 10 slots have been allocated for students who are home-schooled or enrolled in charter or private schools.
Parents of these students are encouraged to call Carolynn Jarrett at 994-2878 to request a packet. Any parents or adults who wish to volunteer may also contact Jarrett.
Permission slips need to be returned by April 10.
At that time a random drawing will determine the 10 lucky students and winners will be notified by phone.
