Merodio graduates from Monmouth College

MONMOUTH, Ill. – Sarah Merodio of Kelseyville, Calif., recently graduated from Monmouth College.

A psychology and exercise science major, Merodio is the daughter of Agustin A. and Simone H. Merodio of Kelseyville, Calif..

Founded in 1853, Monmouth College is a nationally ranked liberal arts college of 1,100 students.

Affiliated with the Presbyterian Church and the birthplace of the women's fraternity movement, the college offers 34 majors, 33 minors, 18 pre-professional programs, and two innovative Triads in Global Food Security and Global Public Health.

Mendocino College Lake Center to provide extra services Aug. 13 to 17 for students to prepare for fall semester

LAKEPORT, Calif. – After being closed due to the fires, the Mendocino College Lake Center will be reopening on Monday, Aug. 13, and providing extra support for Lake County students.

Monday, Aug. 13, through Friday, Aug. 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., the center will have walk-in counseling, assessment testing, financial aid help and more in order to assist students in preparing for the fall semester, which begins on Monday, Aug. 20.

The food pantry will also be open for registered students.

Woodland Community College plans Aug. 11 express registration event

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – Lake County Campus of Woodland Community College Student Services staff will be available in the Administration Building Saturday, Aug. 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to offer “express registration” services.

Anyone interested in attending LCC in the fall 2018 semester that begins Aug. 13 will find application workshops, placement information, counseling services, registration and financial aid staff ready to help.

Bring your Social Security card or alien registration number (if applicable), a picture ID and high school transcripts to the “one stop shop” event. Express registration includes four simple steps: application workshops, placement testing for English and Math, a counseling session and registering for classes.

Potential students also can apply online before the event by visiting http://lcc.yccd.edu/admissions/apply-today/.

All first time, full-time students are eligible for LCC’s free tuition Promise Program as well. Learn more about this money-saving LCC program during the Express Registration event.

“We are very excited to offer this unique Express Registration event,” said Woodland Community College President Dr. Michael White. “Anyone interested in attending classes this fall and taking advantage of our free tuition Promise Program should participate.”

He added, “Maybe you are a current high school student interested in attending an afternoon or Saturday classes, shortening your path to a degree. Or maybe you’ve planned to attend college and have yet to enroll. No matter your personal story, this is your opportunity. We hope to see you Aug. 11”

The Lake County Campus, located at 15880 Dam Road Extension in Clearlake, has been providing quality education to the residents of the south Lake County area for more than 43 years.

Lake County International Charter School honors graduates

MIDDLETOWN, Calif. – Lake County International Charter School, or LCICS, would like to recognize the initial group of students who attended its school for most or all of their K-8 years.

These students recently graduated as valedictorians of their classes. A fourth has received her associate degree in arts and humanities - the week before she walked for her high school diploma.

Congratulations to Amida Verhey, Treeanna Brownfield, Elizabeth Wetmore and Orianna Maupin-Ahern.

“There is no doubt that these young adults will make positive contributions to our world. They are bright, good-hearted, creative and wonderful beings. We are honored to have had such a significant part in their education and development,” said LCICS Director Gwendolyn Maupin-Ahern stated.

School starts Tuesday, Aug. 21, and LCICS still has several spaces available in it multi-grade classrooms for the 2018-2019 school year.
