KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Tennis isn't just for the big kids.
Riviera Hills Country Club in Kelseyville has been hosting summer tennis camps for youth, including Tiny Tennis campers, age 5 to 8.
Downtown Tennis Academy incorporates the USTA 10 and under tennis play format by using size appropriate equipment and tennis balls that are easier to hit.
Red balls are used for a 36-foot court format, for 5- to 8-year-olds. Orange balls are used on a modified 60-foot court, for 9- to 10-year-olds. Green balls are used on a full sized 78-foot court, for the intermediate to advanced players.
Using this format will better develop junior players, helping them master tennis fundamentals more quickly and getting them excited to play.
The last tennis camp of the summer began Monday and runs through this Friday, Aug. 23.
Tennis lessons will continue once a week starting in September.
