HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE – The HVL Men's Niners Golf Club held a two-man scramble competition on July 8.
Fifty men – or 25 teams – enjoyed the competition and the beautiful course.
The results were as follows:
First flight: The team of John Jones/Jim Cary was best with a combined low net, 27, while the teams of Olie Smith/Bob Costello, Bob Brossier/Dennis Bero, Tony D'Agosta/Rick Canevari, Stan Kalata/Arch Madsen and Dave Mann/Joe Whitbeck tied for second one stroke back at 28.
Second flight: Ron Clark/Brian Panizzera finished first at 25. The teams of Mike Casolo/ Ron Hallman and Al Burrows/ Phil Tyler tied for second with 26.
Third flight: Mill Garrett/Gary Pickrell combined for the lowest net of the day, 24. The teams of Mason Butler/Jim DeRosa and Bryon Hoss/Don Dornbush tied for second at 26.

LOWER LAKE – The Anderson Marsh Interpretive Association (AMIA) is offering a once-a-month guided nature walk through Anderson Marsh’s oak woodlands and riparian habitat, followed by a Ranch House tour, on two upcoming Saturday mornings: July 17 and Aug. 21.
Meet in front of the ranch house before 8:30 a.m. for time to experience the early morning wildlife to be found in the Ranch House and Barn complex yard. The walk begins at 8:30 a.m.
The nature walk is ADA accessible. Experience the flora and fauna of the marsh, Cache Creek, hear about the history of the area and after the walk, tour the 19th Century Ranch House.
Anderson Marsh State Historic Park is located on Highway 53, between Lower Lake and Clearlake.

HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE – The HVL Men's Niners Golf Club held a “sweeps” competition (low net) on July 1.
The results were:
First flight: Dennis Bero took first with low net 32, Joe Vallee was second at net 34, and Stan Kalata and Bob Brossier tied with 35.
Second flight: Jim Stratton came out on top at 33, Carl Dennis was second with 34, and Ron Martinez and Ron Clark tied with 35.
Third flight: Randy Brown had the low net of the day, 30, while Jim Cary had 31 and Bill Stricklan, 33.
Fourth flight: Byron Hoss won the flight with net 31, Ed Carver had 32 and Gary Pickrell, 34.
Closest to the par three pins were Ron Martinez and Jim Cary.
Chip-ins were scored by Jay Hodges, Stan Kalata and Gary Pickrell.
Fifty four men participated in the day's competition.

Beginning July 14, the Junior Ranger program will run Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., for children ages 7 through 12.
All sessions will begin in the visitor center auditorium at 10 a.m.
Each day participants will explore Lake County’s unique natural and cultural resources. Daily programs will vary.
As children discover the wonders of their local environment, they will earn awards for their accomplishments. They also will get a peek at what State Park Rangers have to know to protect our beautiful state parks.
This Junior Ranger program is made possible by funding from Clear Lake State Park Interpretive Association.

The visitor center will open from noon to 2 p.m. each Wednesday following the Junior Ranger program beginning July 14.
Saturday and Sunday visitor center open hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the summer.
