LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – On Friday, Feb. 26, the Clear Lake Cardinals sent three wrestlers to compete in the weekends tournaments across the state.
On the boys' side, Jacob Pyorre (113 pounds) and Isaac Lewis (152 pounds) headed out to James Logan High School in Union City for the Boys (NCS) North Coast Sections Tournament.
Emily Psalmonds (106 pounds) headed out to Visalia for the girls state tournament.
Pyorre, after a tough week still battling a head and chest cold, ended his wrestling season at NCS, going 2-2 with two pins.
“Wish we could have seen him on his 'A' game these last couple of weeks, but I am proud how he battled through it all,” said Coach Rick Pyorre.
Lewis finished his season at NCS going 1-2 with one pin. He split his lip pretty bad in his first match and then had a tough battle against the fourth seed.
“He gave it everything he had,” said Coach Steve Fisher.
Psalmonds went 0-2 and had a rough start going against the tournament's eventual silver medalist right out of the gate.
“She fought hard and gave it her all,” said Coach Aden Pierson. “I am really proud of all of them this year!”
