Muslim Friends of Lake County hosts Friday prayer services

CLEARLAKE OAKS, Calif. – Are you a Muslim? Are you interested in Islam?


The Muslim Friends of Lake County hold congregational Friday prayers, called Juma'ah, every Friday at the Clearlake Oaks Methodist Church, 12487 The Plaza, next to Nylander's Park on The Plaza.


The meetings start at 12:45 p.m. with prayer at 1 p.m., followed by discussions and fellowship.


You do not have to be a Muslim to come.


They accept all Muslims, no matter what sect, and also have dervishes from two different orders (tariqas) who are available for discussing Sufism as well.

Lake County Bible Fellowship hosts study in Book of Acts

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Pastor Mark Wascom of Lake County Bible Fellowship will begin a study in the Book of Acts starting at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16.


His study in Isaiah will continue Sunday mornings at 10:45 a.m.


During the 9:30 a.m. Sunday School hour, Brent Siemer will continue a study in the book of Joshua.


Lake County Bible Fellowship is located at 755 N. Forbes St. in Lakeport.

Lakeport Christian Center hosts Oct. 22 'Fallfest'

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Lakeport Christian Center will present “Fallfest,” a free event for the Lake County community, on Saturday, Oct. 22.


Fallfest will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Lakeport Christian Center, 455 S. Forbes St., Lakeport.


The event will feature music by Gospel Music Association Artist of 2011 National Runner-up Sebrina Dollosso and a number of activities, including face painting, arts and crafts, bicycle safety rodeo (kids, bring your bike), jump house, games, free hamburgers and hot dogs, and free clothing.


Everyone is invited. Bring your children.

Roman Catholic bishop to speak at Oct. 2 dinner

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – Santa Rosa’s new Roman Catholic bishop, Robert Vasa, will be the featured guest speaker at a fundraising dinner at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Clearlake on Sunday, Oct. 2.


The dinner, sponsored by the Clearlake chapter of the Knights of Columbus, is an annual event to raise funds for pro-life causes, including local outreaches to pregnant women and families in need.


Doors open at 5 p.m., dinner begins at 6 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.


Chicken, pasta, side dishes, wine and dessert are all included in the $20 ticket price.


Some tickets may be available at the door; however, advance purchase is recommended.
