KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – More than 500 Kelseyville High School students in grades ninth through 12th attended the school’s annual Career & College Day, where they connected with representatives from more than 40 organizations, from four-year universities to community colleges, skilled trades, health care, the military, law enforcement, local businesses, government agencies, and workforce development programs.

This year’s Career & College Day, held on Feb. 17, marked significant growth from last year, with an increase in the number of colleges and industry representatives in attendance.

The continued growth of this event reflects the community’s strong commitment to preparing Lake County students for college, careers, and life after high school, according to Kelseyville Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Nicki Thomas.

The event, co-hosted by Kelseyville High School and the Lake County Office of Education, provided students with valuable insight into potential academic and career pathways and reinforced the importance of early postsecondary planning.

Through hands-on demonstrations and one-on-one conversations, students gained a better understanding of the real-world skills, training, and education needed to achieve their goals, all without having to leave campus.

To encourage engagement, students were given “passports” to track their participation. Students who completed their passports by speaking with professionals at multiple booths were entered into a drawing to win items donated by local businesses and community partners, including bags, gift cards, tumblers, bluetooth speakers and headphones.

KHS Principal Mike Jones thanked Kelseyville Pizza, Pogo’s Pizza, North American Mental Health, CareerTEAM, Sonoma State University, and Pacific Union College for their generous raffle donations.

He also thanked Lake Event Design for the generous donation of table rentals, which helped create an organized and welcoming space for students and professionals to connect.

Organizers say they look forward to continuing this annual tradition and expanding opportunities for students to explore career pathways, postsecondary options, and local workforce opportunities and thanked partners for their participation: Adventist Health Clear Lake, California Highway Patrol – Clear Lake Area, CareerTEAM, Country Air Properties, County of Lake Deputy Agricultural Commissioner, Edventure More (EDMO), Lake County Probation, Lake County Public Defender's Office, Lake County Public Health, Lake County Registrar of Voters, Lake County SELPA, Lake County Sheriff's Office, Mendocino College, North American Mental Health, Northern Rural Energy Network, Northshore Fire Protection District, Pacific Union College, Redwood Credit Union, Reynolds Systems, Inc., Santa Rosa Junior College, Saw Shop Public House, Savings Bank of Mendocino County, Simpson University, Scully Packing Company, TERA- Tribal EcoRestoration Alliance, UC Agriculture and Natural Resources, UC Davis AVID/AvenueM Program, United States Air Force, United States Coast Guard, United States Marine Corps, Workforce Alliance of the North Bay, Woodland Community College Lake County Campus and About Kelseyville High School.
