Lakeport Police officers responded to multi-vehicle collision; domestic violence investigation leads to arrest

LAKEPORT, Calif. — A Friday night domestic violence incident led to a vehicle crash that injured several people and an arrest.

The Lakeport Police Department said that its officers were dispatched to the area of Safeway at 8:54 p.m. for a report of a traffic collision involving three vehicles, with one vehicle reportedly on fire and a child trapped inside.

When they arrived, officers located one involved vehicle in the Safeway parking lot. The other two vehicles were located near the intersection of Clearlake Avenue and North Tunis Street. 

The officers immediately began rendering aid, assisting occupants from the vehicles and securing the scene. Lakeport Fire Department personnel also responded to the scene.

Police said several individuals sustained injuries as a result of the collision. All injured parties were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The extent of their injuries was not released early Saturday.

During the course of the investigation, officers determined the incident stemmed from a domestic violence situation. 

As a result of the investigation, one of the drivers, Nicholas Carroll, was arrested and booked on one count of corporal injury to a spouse, cohabitant or intimate partner resulting in a traumatic condition; two counts of willfully causing or permitting a child to suffer, or placing a child in a situation where his or her health or safety is endangered under circumstances likely to produce great bodily harm or death; and four counts of assault upon another person with a deadly weapon or by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
