Lakeport City Council to consider support for Lakeport Fire station request, midyear budget review

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeport City Council is set to consider a support letter for a funding request for a new Lakeport Fire station and the city’s midyear budget review.

The council will meet Tuesday, March 3, at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at Lakeport City Hall, 225 Park St.

On Tuesday, the council will present a proclamation designating March 2026 as National Nutrition Month, and will receive a presentation on the Lakeport Fire Protection District Canine Ops.

City Clerk Kelly Buendia also is set to administer the oath of office to newly appointed City Attorney Mackenzie Anderson.

Council members will be asked to approve letters of support for the Lakeport Fire Protection
District’s FY27 Senate appropriations earmark requests for land acquisition for a future replacement fire station at 440 North Main St.

They also will consider approving submission of the South Lakeport Regional Water Resiliency & Fire Protection Project for consideration under the Fiscal Year 2026 Congressional Community Project Funding request process.

In other business for Tuesday, the council will consider approving the memorandum of understanding between the city of Lakeport and the Lake County Public Health Department for administration and enforcement of the Tobacco Retail License Program pursuant to Section 5.40.170 of the Lakeport Municipal Code.

The council also will review the 2025 General Plan Annual Progress Report, accept and file the annual comprehensive financial review for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025, and consider approving the budget amendments to the fiscal year 2025/2026 budget, as recommended by staff.

On the consent agenda — items considered noncontroversial and usually accepted as a slate on one vote — are ordinances; minutes of the regular City Council meeting on Feb. 17; approval of application 2026-011, with staff recommendations, for the 2026 Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples Day event; review and filing of the second quarter 2025/26 Financial Update; adoption of the resolution of the City Council of the city of Lakeport approving application for 2025 State CDBG funding and authorize execution of related documents; approval of a resolution rescinding Resolution 3021 (2026), approving a 12% increase to
the police officer trainee classification, and revising the master salary schedule in conformance with California Code of Regulations, Title 2, Section 570.5; and approval of Amendment No. 2 to the agreement for legal services with Colantuono, Highsmith & Whatley, PC, designating Mackenzie D. Anderson as city attorney and David J. Ruderman as assistant city attorney, and direct the city clerk to administer the oath of office to Mackenzie D. Anderson.
