Lakeport Unified School Board to hold special meeting to consider layoff notices

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeport Unified School District Board will hold a special meeting in order to consider layoffs of certain teaching and classified positions.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at the District Office, 2508 Howard Ave.

Members of the public may access the public session of the meeting via Google Meet.

On the agenda are two layoff-related resolutions.

The first regards the reduction or discontinuance of “particular kinds of service” for certificated, or teaching, positions.

District leadership is proposing position layoffs equaling nine full-time equivalents.

The second resolution is for classified staff. About 14 full-time equivalent positions are proposed for layoff, according to the staff report.

Annual layoff notices must be made by March 15 for school districts.
 
The board also will hold a closed session to discuss public employee dismissal/discipline/release.
