LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — Community members concerned about road safety are urged to take part in a public meeting next week.
The Lake Area Planning Council, or Lake APC, invites community members to attend an open‑house public meeting to learn about ongoing updates to three local road safety plans, or LRSPs, for the county of Lake and the cities of Clearlake and Lakeport.
The meeting will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 23, in the City Council chambers at Lakeport City Hall, 225 Park St.
A portion of the meeting also will be available via Zoom. Use this link to attend online from 5 to 5:15 p.m. for the live presentation. The meeting ID is 859 6103 2385; the passcode is 286793.
A local road safety plan is a study that identifies and prioritizes roadway safety improvements on local roads.
The process relies on data analysis, field evaluation, and collaboration with community members and local agencies to better understand safety conditions and identify strategies to reduce the number and severity of crashes across the region.
The public meeting will be held in an open-house format. Attendees may arrive at any time and stay for any length of time. The team will open the meeting with a brief presentation describing the project.
The presentation will then play on a continuous loop throughout the evening. Community members will have the opportunity to speak with members of the project team, ask questions, provide feedback on roadway safety and complete a survey regarding local traffic safety.
Following the presentation, attendees will be able to leave comments in the chat.
As part of the LRSP updates for the county of Lake and the cities of Clearlake and Lakeport, LakeAPC is gathering input from residents about local traffic safety issues.
The survey provides an opportunity to share experiences, highlight locations of concern, and help the project team gain a clearer picture of roadway conditions throughout the region.
The survey can be taken here.
It takes less than five minutes to complete, and respondents may pinpoint specific areas where they believe safety improvements are needed.
