LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — A new effort along Highway 20 is meant to encourage drivers to be more careful and mind their speed.

Over the next several days, the California Highway Patrol’s Williams and Clear Lake area offices will conduct a joint enforcement campaign on Highway 20 within Colusa and Lake counties.

Officials said the goal is to target excessive speed and aggressive drivers.

In 2025, the CHP Williams Area investigated three fatalities on State Route 20 due to drivers crossing over double yellow lines.

The CHP Williams Area will continue to have a strong presence on Highway 20 to educate drivers and deter aggressive and unsafe driving behavior.

“Slow down. Drive safe. Arrive alive,” the CHP said.
