Voter education and outreach planned during High School Education Weeks

By Lake County News Reports | Mar 28, 2026

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The Lake County Registrar of Voters office encourages Lake County schools to participate in the 2026 High School Voter Education Weeks taking place Monday, April 13, through Friday, April 24.

The purpose of High School Voter Education Weeks is to promote civic education and participation.

As preparations are underway for the June 2 Primary Election, now is a great time to encourage students to preregister to vote, consider student poll working opportunities, and become engaged and active in their communities.

Schools may also support civic engagement by hosting voter registration or preregistration drives.

Eligible students ages 16 and 17 may preregister to vote, and their registration becomes active when they turn 18.

Eligible students can register to vote online at https://registertovote.ca.gov/ or at the Lake County Registrar of Voters Office at 325 N. Forbes St. in Lakeport.

Registrations are also available at all Lake County libraries and post offices.
