LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — Lake County’s new poet laureate will be honored in events coming up in April.
Roy Arthur Blodgett has been named Lake County’s 13th poet laureate. His term officially begins in April and continues through 2028.
On Tuesday, April 7, the Lake County Board of Supervisors will formally declare Blodgett as the new poet laureate. On the same day, the board will declare National Poetry Month.
Blodgett’s inaugural celebration will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at Fore Family Vineyards Tasting Room, 3924 Main St. in Kelseyville.
An online inauguration celebration also is planned on Monday, April 20.
The inaugural celebrations will feature readings by Blodgett, 2026 poet laureate candidates Mimi Whittaker and Shalon Citron, and Lake County Poets Laureate Emeriti Brenda Marie Yeager, Georgina Marie Guardado, Richard Schmidt and Carolyn Wing Greenlee.
