3.0-magnitude earthquake reported near Upper Lake

LUCERNE, Calif. – A moderate-sized earthquake located near Upper Lake shook parts of Lake County on Thursday.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the 3.0-magnitude earthquake occurred at 5:57 p.m. Thursday.

Its epicenter was located 11 miles to the northeast of Upper Lake, within the Mendocino National Forest, according to the USGS website.

The quake was 4.4 miles deep, the USGS reported.

Lake County News readers reported feeling the Thursday quake in parts of the county including Clearlake, Lucerne and Nice.

USGS records showed a 3.7-magnitude quake occurred close to the same location on March 26.
