LUCERNE, Calif. – An early Thursday morning fire destroyed a Lucerne home.

The fire occurred in a single-wide mobile home in the 6300 block of Highway 20.

Firefighters were dispatched to the structure just before 1 a.m. Thursday.

Northshore Fire Chief Shannon Banks told Lake County News that the homeowner and her pets were unharmed.

“She got out and she got her pets out before it overtook the house,” said Banks. “She was outside when we got here.”

Banks, three Northshore Fire engines and one engine from Lakeport Fire responded.

The home is a total loss, with the cause of the fire so far unknown, Banks said.

On Thursday evening, an alert neighbor called firefighters after smoke was seen coming from the eastern side of the burned structure.

Firefighters arrived a short time later and did additional overhaul, pulling up flooring where they found another hot spot.
