LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — A weather system approaching the California coast is expected to bring cooler temperatures, rain and possible thunderstorms, and snow in the higher elevations through this weekend.

The National Weather Service’s forecast for Lake County calls for isolated showers and a possible thunderstorm on Thursday, along with patchy fog between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Foggy conditions are forecast to clear in the afternoon, at which point rain is expected. Rainfall amounts on Thursday afternoon and evening are expected to be less than a quarter of an inch.

Conditions on Friday are anticipated to be similar to those on Thursday — alternately foggy and rainy — with more than a quarter of an inch of rain expected through Friday night. Friday could also see gusting winds of more than 10 miles per hour in the evening.

On Saturday, the forecast calls for another half an inch of rain, with a slight chance of rain on Sunday, before clearer and sunnier conditions return through Wednesday.

Temperatures on Thursday will range from the low 70s in the day and high 40s at night, before temperatures dip into the 50s during the day and high 30s at night through Monday.

From Tuesday through Wednesday, daytime conditions will rise into the low 60s and nighttime temperatures into the low 40s.
