Western Region Town Hall to hear about lake project, fire district

UPPER LAKE, Calif. – The Western Region Town Hall will hear about a lake health project and the latest from the new Northshore Fire chief at its next meeting.

The meeting will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at the Habematolel community center, 9460 Main St.

The meeting also will be streamed live on PEGTV Lake County at https://lakecountywrthcom.wordpress.com.

On Wednesday, Ryan Van Goethem, a limnologist and project lead for EutroPHIX, will discuss the algae bloom project for the upper arm of the lake scheduled to begin next week.

From April 13 to 24, EutroPHIX will apply EutroSORB G to bind phosphorus in the lake sediments within a 400-acre treatment area located about two miles offshore of Lucerne.

Also at the meeting, Northshore Fire Chief Shannon Banks will offer an update on the fire district, which is considering another ballot measure.

Under business, the group will discuss the grange, land use projects, the bylaws, the District 3 Municipal Advisory Committee alliance, Pyle Road, Upper Lake school traffic safety, the Upper Lake levees, the Nice COPTR project and a letter to Scotts Valley, and get the monthly supervisor’s report.

WRTH members are Chair Thomas Aceves, Vice Chair Tim Chiara and records keeper Linda Alexander, and members Lisa Benevides, David Eby and Claudine Pedroncelli.
