LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – A traffic collision is believed to have caused a late night power outage in the Lakeport and Kelseyville areas.

Just before midnight Friday, the California Highway Patrol reported that a vehicle had hit a power pole in the area of Soda Bay and Ackley roads.

Minutes later, radio reports indicated power was out along Main Street in Lakeport.

A Lakeport Fire medic unit that arrived at around 12:10 a.m. found a vehicle off the side of the road and down a small embankment and into a power pole, with a compromised power line hanging on the pole’s crossbar.

Pacific Gas and Electric Co. sent a team that arrived at around 12:40 a.m. Saturday, according to radio traffic.

Initially, PG&E said approximately 4,281 customers in Lakeport and Kelseyville were impacted, with that number reduced to over 3,200 shortly after 1 a.m. and then down to 1,183 about 20 minutes later.

PG&E said power is expected to be completely restored to the area by 4 a.m. Saturday.
