LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The June 2 Statewide Direct Primary Election is fast approaching and the Lake County Registrar of Voters has issued an update on the deadline to register to vote.
New residents of Lake County, and registered voters who have moved to a new address, changed their mailing address within the county or have changed their name need to register or reregister to vote no later than May 18.
If your mailing address has changed, official voting materials cannot be forwarded.
To check your status, visit My Voter Status at https://voterstatus.sos.ca.gov/ or call the Registrar of Voters Office at 707-263-2372.
How to register:
• Online: registertovote.ca.gov.
• In person: 325 N. Forbes St., Lakeport.
• By mail: Must be postmarked by May 18.
If you miss the deadline, you can still vote by visiting the Registrar’s Office during business hours, Monday through Friday, May 19 to June 2.
Pursuant to Section 2101 of the California Elections Code: "A person entitled to register to vote shall be a United States citizen, a resident of California, not imprisoned for the conviction of a felony, and at least 18 years of age at the time of the next election.”
