Supervisors to discuss marijuana dispensaries, GE food labeling

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Board of Supervisors will discuss the county's actions against medical marijuana dispensaries and a resolution to label genetically modified foods when it meets on Tuesday.

The meeting will take place at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, in the board chambers on the first floor of the Lake County Courthouse, 255 N. Forbes St., Lakeport. TV8 will broadcast the meeting live.

At 2 p.m., the board will discuss the latest developments regarding code enforcement actions against medical marijuana dispensaries.

Last month code enforcement served notices of violation against the 10 dispensaries operating within the county's unincorporated areas, as Lake County News has reported.

That action resulted after the board rescinded its medical marijuana dispensaries ordinance in reaction to a referendum circulated against the ordinance late in the summer. The county's interpretation of its zoning ordinance is that any use not specifically allowed – in this case, dispensaries – is not legal.

At 10:15 a.m. the board also will continue its discussion of a proposed resolution supporting the mandatory labeling of genetically engineered food. The matter was held over from a previous meeting.

A full agenda follows.
