LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Board of Supervisors this week will consider sending a letter to Lake County's Assembly representative in support of assistance for the struggling Lower Lake Cemetery District.
The board will meet beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, in the board chambers on the first floor of the Lake County Courthouse, 255 N. Forbes St., Lakeport.
The meeting can be watched live on Channel 8 and online at http://www.co.lake.ca.us/Government/Boards/Board_of_Supervisors/calendar.htm . Accompanying board documents, the agenda and archived board meeting videos also are available at that link.
In an untimed item, the board will consider a letter supporting the Lower Lake Cemetery District's request for assistance from Assemblyman Bill Dodd's Office.
A memo from Supervisor Jim Steele, who is asking the board for the letter, explained, “The Lower Lake Cemetery District is presently struggling to remain operational in the face of considerable financial difficulties. The District has reached out to Assemblymember Dodd’s office asking for assistance in obtaining funding and/or obtaining the volunteer services of fiscal professionals to assist the District in its efforts to remain in operation.”
Steele said Dodd’s office has asked that the Board of Supervisors provide a letter in support of the Lower Lake Cemetery District’s request for assistance.
In other business, at 9:15 a.m. the board will hold a hearing of a vicious animal abatement order for a dog owned by Diana and Donald Merrill of Lower Lake.
Lake County Animal Care and Control's report said that on Oct. 18 the Merrills' dog “Narles,” an Anatolian Shepherd, attacked and injured a neighbor's dog, which later died of its injuries.
