LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeport Economic Development Advisory Committee will wrap up its work in 2016 by getting an update on the city's new sales tax measure and discussing its economic development strategic plan.
LEDAC will meet from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at Lakeport City Hall, 225 Park St.
City Manager Margaret Silveira and Community Development Director Kevin Ingram will update committee members on Measure Z, the new one-cent sales tax approved by voters in November, along with the latest on plans for lakefront revitalization and the Carnegie Library, the hotel development feasibility study
Committee Chair Wilda Shock said another main item on the Wednesday agenda is the Lakeport Economic Development Strategic Plan and a review of goals and actions, led by Ingram.
Shock said the three goals of the Lakeport Economic Development Strategic Plan for 2017-22 will be reviewed and finalized using the logic model approach.
She said those goals have been identified by LEDAC during 2016 as promoting and participating in regional economic development initiatives, expanding and supporting business retention and attraction efforts, and striving and enhancing the historic downtown and lakefront area.
With several seats open on LEDAC, Shock encouraged prospective members to attend the Wednesday meeting for the discussion about the city's economic development strategic plan.
She said the Lakeport City Council will consider applications and make appointments to LEDAC at its meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Lakeport City Hall. Applicants also are encouraged to attend that meeting and to introduce themselves to the council and the public.
LEDAC advocates for a strong and positive Lakeport business community and acts as a conduit between the city and the community for communicating the goals, activities and progress of Lakeport’s economic and business programs.
In addition to Shock, the membership includes Vice Chair Christine Hutt, Secretary Rebecca Southwick, and members Bill Eaton, Melissa Fulton, Pam Harpster, George Linn, Taira St. John and Panette Talia. Ingram and Silveira serve as ex-officio committee members.
The Wednesday meeting will be LEDAC's last of the year. It will hold is first meeting of 2017 on Jan. 11.
