LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeport City Council this week is set to take the next step in establishing a citizens’ oversight committee for its Measure Z sales tax, and consider actions to offer assistance for city residents impacted by the recent flooding, including continuing the flood emergency declaration.
The council will meet beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, in the council chambers at Lakeport City Hall, 225 Park St.
On Tuesday City Clerk Kelly Buendia will present to the council a resolution establishing an ad hoc advisory committee that includes two council members for the selection of the Measure Z Independent Citizens’ Advisory Committee.
In flood-related action, Community Development Director Kevin Ingram will take to the council a proposed resolution providing relief to displaced residents of the 2017 Flood Event from certain requirements of the Lakeport Municipal Code.
City Manager Margaret Silveira also will ask the council to approve the continuation of the proclamation declaring a local state of emergency due to the recent flooding and extreme weather.
In other business in Tuesday, Public Works Director Doug Grider will ask for the go ahead to advertise for competitive bids for the Giselman Street waterline replacement project. He also will seek approval of a construction contract award for the Downtown Tree Installation Project to Neary Landscape Inc. and a budget amendment in the general fund of $20,000.
The council also will consider adopting a resolution accepting construction of the Lakeport Downtown
Improvement Project, Phase II by Granite Construction Co. and authorize the filing of the notice of completion.
On the meeting's consent agenda – items considered noncontroversial and usually accepted as a slate on one vote – are ordinances; the minutes for the March 7 council meeting; approval of Application No. 2017-011 with staff recommendations for the Lake County’s Finest Farmer’s Market to be held on Tuesday mornings in Library Park from May through September; adoption of a resolution extending the prohibition on price gouging for an additional 30 days in the city of Lakeport;a proposed resolution adopting a records retention schedule, and authorizing destruction of certain city records and rescinding Resolution No. 2550 (2015); authorize the out-of-state travel as requested by the chief of police to resolve a pending felony criminal investigation; adoption of the proposed resolution to transfer $33,000 from the Low – Mod Housing Fund to the City’s emergency housing assistance fund and to increase the budgeted expenditures in the emergency housing assistance fund by $34,000 to provide emergency housing assistance to displaced Lakeport residents of the 2017 Flood Event.
