KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Josephine Arinda Evans Whaley entered this world Jan. 11, 1926, in Benham, TX. The Lord and his angels called upon her Oct. 27, 2013, in Kelseyville.
She has been known for many professional talents. She hosted the bingo bus tours for Table Mountain Casino, and was a consultant of Park Lane and Princess House.
Josephine even received an editorial as saleswoman of the year, making the cover of Ava Care Magazine. She even won a “Showcase Show Down” on the Price is Right. She also was a true bingo enthusiast.
Grandma Jo was a dedicated mother, hard worker and compassionate Christian woman who made Lake County home for the last 40 years.
She was the kind of woman who could lift the spirit of anyone – she was warm-hearted, kind, generous, joyous and loving. A gambler at heart, Grandma Jo will be greatly missed, but will remain in our hearts forever.
She is survived by four sons, Jim, Wayne, Mike and Ernie Whaley; grandchildren, Tristin Fowler, Kenny, Shelly, Janessa, Jason, Candy, Nathan and Misty Whaley; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Albert Whaley; her children, Rosie, Shirley and Andy Whaley, and Jenny Hammil; daughter-in-law, Carlene Whaley; and grandsons, John and Steven Hamilton.
Graveside services will be at Kelseyville Cemetery, 3375 Bell Hill Road, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – William “Bill” Hansberg passed away peacefully in Lakeport on Nov. 3, 2013, at the age of 78.
He is survived by his dearly beloved wife of 57 years, Ann Marie Hansberg; daughter, Janet Krumbien (Brad); grandaughters, Rachel and Katelyn Solis; and his cat, Flower.
Bill is predeceased by son, Stephen Hansberg; sister, Amy Brissenden; brother, Elmo Hansberg; and parents, Oscar and Annie Hansberg.
Born on May 15, 1935, in San Francisco, he grew up in Visitacion Valley. He graduated from Balboa High School and served in the US Army from 1958 to 1960.
He raised his family in Millbrae, Calif., and moved to his dream home in Lakeport in 1997 where he worked at Piedmont Lumber until 2010.
A nature lover and sportsman, Bill spent many days on the lake fishing, boating and waterskiing, and had fond memories of hunting trips in California.
He also was a mechanic by trade and lover of cars. He and his Model A were members of the No Name Car Club.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, Nov. 22, at 11 a.m. at Hartley Cemetery, 2552 Hill Road East, Lakeport. A reception will follow.

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – S. William Kapranos of Clearlake passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at St. Helena Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born May 5, 1921, in Chicago to Christine Weber and William S. Kapranos.
He received his degree in chemical engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1943. He was active in ROTC but did not serve in the military in WWII as his work developing jet fuel at Shell Oil was considered vital to the war effort.
His work as a management consultant and executive took him all over the world. He held many patents and became an entrepreneur.
He enjoyed choral singing, opera, sailing, woodworking, and restoring antique gasoline engines. He could design, build or fix anything. He lovingly built his wife a grandmother clock from a 25 cent set of plans for their 25th wedding anniversary.
He was active in parish life, including founding a chapter of Knights of Columbus at St. Thomas Aquinas in Camas, Washington.
He chopped firewood for the needy well into his 80s. He had a gift for languages and could mimic anyone. He had a song for everything.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Albert; sister, Marie; and son, Richard.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Rose Capodice Kapranos; daughters, Karen (Lewis) Bowen and Beth (Kurt) Ackermann; daughter-in-law, Linda Kapranos; grandchildren, Nick (Jaina) Kapranos, Anna (Matt) Moran, Elizabeth Kapranos and Elijah Bowen; and great-grandchildren, Charlie, Lucy and Emma.
Visitation will be at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary, 1625 N. High St., Lakeport, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 8, followed by a Rosary at 5:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, at St. Mary Immaculate, 801 N. Main St., Lakeport.
Graveside service be at at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hillside, Ill.
