Lorene Hankins passed peacefully April 17, 2013, surrounded by her children.

Lorene was born April 26, 1927, in Hominy, Okla., 20 minutes before her twin sister Irene Sutton Rush.  

She lived her childhood in various parts of Oklahoma as her father worked in the oil fields. She moved to California at the age of 18 with her parents and settled in the Upper Lake, Calif., area.

Lorene worked as a waitress when she met Earl Hankins and after a whirlwind courtship married October 18, 1947.  

They spent all of their married life in the Lakeport, Calif., area and raised three children.

Lorene was known for her fun loving nature. She was an avid bowler and huge baseball fan and was so thrilled to finally see the S.F. Giants win the World Series.

After retirement she spent many hours with her grandchildren and working in her flower garden.

Lorene is survived by her children, Jim (Kathy) Hankins, Perry (Darlene) Hankins and Earlene (David) Taylor; seven grandchildren, Kevin, Haley, Michael, Kendy, James, Roy and Heather; four great-grandchildren, Logan, Morgan, Rylie and Liam; and her youngest brother, J. P. Sutton of Upper Lake.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Earl Hankins; sisters, Hazel Pounds and Irene Rush; and brothers, Jack and Clifford Sutton.

The Hankins family would like to express deep appreciation to all the staff of Rocky Point Care Center who cared for her in her final 18 months of life. She was treated with so much love and dignity by all of them.  

Also the family would like to acknowledge Hospice of Lake County for guiding them through these past few months.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 29, at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary with a celebration of Lorene's life afterwards.

The family prefers donations be made in Lorene's memory to Alzheimer's Association, Northern California Chapter, 2065 West El Camino Real, Suite C, Mountain View, CA 94040, or Hospice of Lake County, 1717 S. Main St., Lakeport CA 95453.

Jerry C. Brown of Kelseyville, Calif., passed away April 16, 2013, after complications from a long illness.

He is survived by his sons, Jason, Buck and Brandon.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary, Lakeport.

Interment to follow at Kelseyville Cemetery.

Harry Uhrmacher died on April 10, 2013, just after his 90th birthday.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Juanita; children, Evonne, Jerry and Debra; and many grandchildren.

He was loved by everyone

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Clearlake Kingdom Hall.

Native San Franciscan Mary Ann Macario was born of Italian immigrant parents, Antonio and Leonilde Stephani Pugliesi, on March 12, 1933, and passed from this life on April 9, 2013.

She was the wife of Al Macario and beloved sister to Peter Pugliesi, Antonette Pugliesi and Julio Pugliesi, who all preceded her in death.

Mary is survived by her son Craig Lavezzo, and many nieces and nephews.

She retired from Bank of America as a banking collections specialist. They moved to Blue Lakes in August 1977 and were active in the Water Club and Beach Owners Association.

Al and Mary were members of the Sons of Italy; Mary worked as a hostess and cashier at the Robinson Rancheria Casino Restaurant for years. Mary was a member of Hopland American Legion Auxiliary Unit 529.

She was visited in the last few days by Betty Pugliesi and her children Raymond Pugliesi, Julie McKnight, great-niece Lydia McKnight and great-nephew Vincent Pugliesi, which delighted Mary.

Graveside services officiated by Father Ryan will take place beginning at 11 a.m. Monday, April 29, at the Upper Lake Cemetery followed by a “Celebration of Life” at 9821 Diane Lane, Upper Lake (Blue Lakes).

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 529 – Girls State, PO Box 808, Hopland, CA 95449.

Longtime Kelseyville, Calif., resident Delbert Deaton passed peacefully at his home Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at the age of 75.

He left this world while in the loving arms of his wife of nearly 57 years, Juanita Deaton.

Del was a wonderful father to Daniel, Lisa (Sean) and Laura (Aron). He was the loving grandfather to Patricia (Craig), Amber (Robbie), Nicole (Jesse), Tyler, Andrew and Abigail, and great-grandpa to Danica and “Little Lady” Van Ert. He also leaves behind his faithful canine companion, Georgie.

Del was a proud member of the U.S. Navy and a valued member of the Lake County Lion’s Club for more than 30 years. He loved to volunteer his time to help others and took his civic responsibilities very seriously.

He loved his family, community and country.

Services will be scheduled for a later date.

Joyce Rae Car, 66, a resident of Lakeport, Calif., passed peacefully at her home April 14, 2013.

Joyce was born in New York July 9, 1947.  

She went to high school in Scottsdale, Ariz., and in 1976, after some time in Southern California, she and her family moved to Lakeport.

She went on to successfully run her own nail and hair salon for many years.   

Joyce enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and making her famous spaghetti sauce.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband and best friend, Don Bradley, as well as her brother, mother and father.

She is survived by her sons, Wade, David, Tim, Dave and Jarrod; daughters, Vicki, Joyce and Michelle; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Aaron, Evan, Dylan, Amy, Megan, Tommy, Chad, Chelsea, Molly, Zachary, Ethan, Hailey, Aiden, Lilly, Caelyn and Ava.

Joyce was a loving, caring, independent person and will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 19, at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary, 1625 N. High St., Lakeport.
