Peaceful protest planned April 5 in Lakeport

LAKEPORT, Calif. — A peaceful protest is planned in downtown Lakeport this weekend.

The event, part of a 50-state nationwide protest, will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at Museum Park, located at Third and Main streets.

The event is meant to oppose the growing influence of billionaires in the government and to resist policies undermining democratic principles.

Participants will gather to advocate for transparency, accountability, and the restoration of power to the people.

NICE, Calif. — On Saturday, April 5, the Dean-O-Holics are coming to town.

The winners of the National Rising Star Award for the best Dean Martin/Frank Sinatra tribute will appear at Robinson Rancheria Resort Casino, supporting Operation Tango Mike.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for Salute to Service.

The evening will include a buffet dinner, one of a kind silent auction items, music and dancing.

Silent auction items include unique items created, crafted and donated by local veterans. There will also be gift certificates and special themed packages up for grabs.

Tickets are available online at www.rrrc.com or at the box office at Robinson Rancheria Resort Casino at 1545 Highway 20, in Nice.

What began as a gesture to show support to a few friends deployed to Afghanistan in 2003, has become a twenty-two year all volunteer community effort and has supported thousands of military personnel, and is known as Operation Tango Mike.

More than 27,000 care packages have been shipped to American heroes.

“Forget politics, support our troops,” is the mantra that has helped ensure that all are welcomed and appreciated at Operation Tango Mike functions. The effort does not involve politics and exists to support our troops and their families.

Westside Community Park Committee meets April 2

LAKEPORT, Calif. — The Westside Community Park Committee will meet on Wednesday, April 2.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the first conference room at Lakeport City Hall, 225 Park St.

On the agenda is a discussion of the horse park under development.

There also will be a discussion about a bench dedication and plaques at the dog park.

Also on the agenda is the treasurer’s February report and and update on maintenance.

A closed session will be held to discuss the caretaker’s position and the radio controlled plane accident that occurred last year.

The committee’s next meeting is May 7.

Kelseyville Presbyterian Church holds rummage sale April 4 and 5

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. — Kelseyville Presbyterian Church’s popular spring rummage sale is set to take place this week.

The sale will be held on Friday, April 4, and Saturday, April 5, in the Friendship Hall.

Sale hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

Items available include antiques, baskets, bedding, books, Blu-Ray and DVDs, Christmas items, collectibles, crafts, housewares, furniture, jewelry, games, gardening, office supplies, small appliances, sporting goods, toys and more.

The Presbyterian Women will be on hand to sell chili, hot dogs and beverages.

Proceeds will benefit the Presbyterian Women and their community projects, including the church’s long-running Food Pantry.

Kelseyville Presbyterian Church is located at 4021 Church St., at the corner of Third and Church streets, one block off of Main Street.
