LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Lake County Public Services Director Caroline Chavez announced that the Eastlake Landfill and the Lakeport Public Services office will be closed Monday, May 27, for the Memorial Day holiday.  

Residential and commercial collection will occur one day after your normal pickup day.

Normal collection schedules will resume the week following the holiday. Both facilities will reopen on Tuesday, May 28.       

Normal operating hours at the landfill are 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

The Public Services office is normally open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – On Saturday, May 11, the Clear Lake Trowel & Trellis Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale.

The sale will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Lincoln-Leavitt parking lot, 650 N. Main St, Lakeport.

Purchase heirloom vegetables, flowers, succulents and miscellaneous garden items and art.  

All proceeds will be used for local scholarships and community service projects.

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The board for the Public, Education and Government – or PEG – cable access television station will meet on Wednesday, May 8.

The meeting will take place beginning at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at Clearlake City Hall, 14050 Olympic Drive.

Agenda items will include a discussion of PEG Board meetings being recorded for Channel 8, approval of programmer's job description and consideration of Beth Katherine Kaiman’s appointment as station lead.

PEG Board members include Chair Denise Loustalot, Vice Chair Ed Robey, and members Jo Bennett and Vince Metzger.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The Konocti Lioness Club will sell raffle tickets for two Mother's Day gift baskets at the Riviera Shopping Center located in the Clear Lake Riviera.  

Tickets will be on sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5, and again on Friday, May 10, from noon to 4 p.m.

On Saturday, May 11, ticket sales will end at 4 p.m. and two winning tickets will be drawn.

These two baskets are overflowing with wonderful and awesome gifts for that special person with the proceeds going to benefit Lake County youngsters in need.

LUCERNE, Calif. – The Time Bank of Thrive Lake County will hold a time bank meetup brunch on Saturday, May 11, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Lucerne Community Clinic, located on Highway 20 at 14th Avenue in Lucerne.

This fun and educational event is open to current, new and potential members of the time bank.

The first hour will be focused on acquainting new and prospective members on the concept of time banking, and the second hour will be a “quick exchange line up” where members meet to get and give services.

After the meeting, there will be time set aside for people wanting time bank software education, as well as a get-together among people wishing to become involved with building the time bank.

All ages welcome. Admission is free, and you can earn hours from the Time Bank from this event in the following ways: one hour will be provided for anybody who brings a breakfast or brunch food item to share with eight other people; one hour will be provided for anybody who brings a friend to the event; one hour will be provided to anyone who stays for the entire event and completes the orientation.

The Time Bank of Thrive Lake County helps Lake County residents get necessary services through allowing the exchange of time instead of cash.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Come to the Ely Stage Stop and Country Museum for the “Picnic on the Porch” on Saturday, June 22.

The day will be filled with entertainment and living history for the whole family to enjoy.

Begin the day listening to local musicians as they recreate the music of the Stage Coach Era.

Barbara White will be all decked out in Victorian-era clothing, plus you’ll see a display of what women were wearing throughout their daily life from a dressing gown to a beautiful ball gown.

Check out the Ely’s Stage Coach, a replica of that used on the Highland Springs to Pieta line.

Around noon they will gather for the “Picnic On The Porch” and enjoy a yummy box lunch from Rosey Cooks and refreshing beverages with a trio of tasty treats for dessert.

Then they’ll all stretch their legs with games and basket raffles. Take a tour of the museum and then head down the hill to the Ely’s new barn and see the progress.

The fun takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Event cost is $30/per person.
