LAKEPORT, Calif. – Northern California Episcopal Bishop Barry L. Beisner of Sacramento will make his official parochial visitation to St. John’s Episcopal Church in Lakeport on Sunday, June 29, at 10 a.m.
This is one of the most important events in the life of an Episcopal parish, connecting the local congregation to the area diocese, the national church, and ultimately the worldwide Anglican Communion.
Bishop Beisner will preside at the celebration of Holy Eucharist, preach, administer confirmation, formally receive into the Episcopal Church those who come from other church backgrounds, and offer all an opportunity to reaffirm baptismal vows.
Afterwards, the bishop will meet with those present at the hospitality hour and speak with church leaders.
If you are presently worshiping at St. John’s and would like to formalize your affiliation with the parish and the Episcopal Church in either of the ways described above, please let parish priest Fr. Leo Joseph know so that the necessary arrangements can be made in advance.
The community is invited to be present at St. John’s on June 29 to welcome the bishop and receive the blessings of his visit.
The church is located at 1190 N. Forbes, Lakeport, www.saintjohnslakeport.org .

LAKEPORT, Calif. – A public healing service will be held this Sunday, June 1, at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Lakeport.
This service is based on the ancient practice of prayer, laying on of hands and anointing with blessed oil handed down from the time of Jesus and the apostles.
“I find St. John’s healing services uplifting and comforting, and wondered how many people in Lake County need and would welcome such a service,” said Kelseyville resident Ray Farrow.
Hearing this feedback, the church leaders decided to expand the experience to the broader community.
“I'm very excited about getting this off the ground, as it’s very timely, not only in our own parish, but the wider community and the world,” said Parish Priest Fr. Leo M. Joseph.
Ironically, Fr. Leo recently celebrated 40 years of ministry despite increasing disability from an incurable cancer.
Lake County Hospice’s loving care enables him to continue to minister to devoted and appreciative parishioners.
Following the healing service, Fr. Leo will celebrate Holy Communion for the Sunday after the Ascension of Jesus.
All who seek healing of mind, heart, and body are welcome to participate in this quarterly service.
