LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — The Lake County Registrar of Voters Office reported that the nomination period to file for candidacy for certain elective office for the upcoming Nov. 4 General District Election has been extended.
All qualified persons other than the incumbent officeholder have until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
The nomination period has been extended due to the nonfiling of the incumbent officeholder of the following district: Scotts Valley Water Conservation District, Division II, one vacancy, four-year term.
Interested persons desiring information regarding filing for the elective office that has been extended until Aug. 13, are advised to contact the Lake County Registrar of Voters
office at 707-263-2372, 325 N Forbes St., Lakeport during regular office hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. prior to the extended filing deadline of Wednesday, Aug. 13.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The California Highway Patrol’s Clear Lake Area Office will hold a driving class to help drivers 65 years of age and older improve their ability to drive safely.
The Age Well, Drive Smart will take place from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at Kelseyville Presbyterian Church, 4021 Church St.
Refreshments will be available.
The CHP said its Age Well, Drive Smart program is meant to equip senior drivers with the necessary tools to remain safe and confident on the road.
This class is an excellent opportunity for senior drivers to refresh their knowledge of California driving laws, evaluate their driving abilities and improve their driving skills.
It covers topics ranging from California driving laws, safe driving practices and the effects of aging on a person’s ability to drive safely.
Some insurance companies also give a small rate discount to senior drivers who complete the class.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — Habitat for Humanity Lake County announced its submission of a request for funding from the USDA Rural Development Housing Preservation Grant.
Funds awarded will be used in Habitat’s ongoing mission to assist very low and low-income homeowners in repairing and rehabilitating their homes in Lake County.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — The E Center Women, Infants and Children Program has released its August appointment scheduling notice.
The nationwide, federally sponsored WIC nutrition program provides nutrition education, support and help with breastfeeding, community and healthcare referrals, and supplemental food benefits to eligible pregnant women, new moms, postpartum women, infants, and children under the age of 5.
WIC encourages enrollment of migrants and eligible women in the early months of pregnancy. Single fathers, foster parents and guardians of children under age five are also eligible to enroll their children.
The food packages include fruits, vegetables, eggs, cheese, milk, cereal, juice, whole grains, and beans or peanut butter, infant cereal, infant fruits and vegetables, and formula supplementation is available for infants.
WIC has generous income guidelines. For example, a family of four can have a yearly gross income of $57,720 or monthly income of up to $4,810 and still be eligible for the health benefits of the WIC program.

WIC families have the option to complete appointments in person or virtually, and can also complete nutrition classes online at www.wichealth.org. Bilingual staff and lunch-hour appointments are also available.

Clearlake WIC office, 14085 - 4 Lakeshore Drive: Monday, Aug. 11 and 25; Wednesday, Aug. 20; Thursdays, Aug. 7, 14, 21 and 28; Friday, Aug. 15. The schedule is 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
