LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Thomas Melvin Curry passed away on March 8, 2020, quietly at home, after a short but courageous fight against pancreatic cancer.

Tom was born on Dec. 19, 1942, in Oakland, California, to Margaret (Hendricks) and William Curry. He was raised in Richmond, California, and graduated from Harry Ells High School.

Tom proudly served in the U.S. Army as a dog handling specialist and a military policeman in the 1st Infantry Division from 1964-1966. After serving in the Vietnam War, he worked as a diesel mechanic for Standard Oil.

In 1967 Tom moved to Lakeport, California, where he followed in the family business of pear farming. His great grandparents were some of the earliest settlers in the Scotts Valley region of Lake County.

Tom enjoyed Jeep rides and hiking the hills of the family property with his family and dogs. He was a proud veteran and a member of the Lake County Military Funeral Honors Team. He was also a volunteer firefighter for the Lakeport Fire Department for nearly 30 years. He loved old country music, classic western movies and John Wayne.

He leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Sharon, and five children, Cathi Curry, Justin (Kristin) Curry, Tommy Curry, Derrick (Asvi) Arnold and Damon Arnold. He will be lovingly remembered by his granddaughters, Addison, Aubrie,and Ava, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Ringo.

Tom was well respected and loved by all. Those who knew him describe him as a true gentleman, humble, kind and a gentle soul. As many have said, “They just don’t make ‘em like that anymore.”

Per Tom’s request, no services will be held. However, he also said that once he was gone, we could do whatever we wanted ... A celebration of his life will take place in the summer.

Carol Jinx Huber
1941-2020

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Carol Jinx Huber passed away March 5, 2020. She went peacefully with family members by her side.

She was born in Sacramento, California, on Nov. 30, 1941, to Ben and Lorraine Cuilla. She was the middle of two siblings, Diane and Bonnie.

She resided with her loving husband, the late Ludwig Huber, Jr., in Clearlake Oaks, California.

Carol was a teachers' aide at East Lake Elementary for 30 years.

She was an active member/volunteer at the Community Methodist Church, The Plaza Thrift Store and Clearlake Hospice Thrift store.

She loved to read and was very fond of cats and dogs, among other animals.

Her hobbies included collecting Beanie Babies, angels, Garfield and anything Disney.

If you were ever at the Plaza Park, you would see Carol with her dog, Rosie, who passed away in November.

Carol was warm, loving and a caring mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her son, Michael Huber of Kelseyville, and Mary Lou Thomas of Santa Rosa, and numerous grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to the celebration of life service at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at the Community Methodist Church located at 12487 The Plaza, Clearlake Oaks.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Methodist Church.

Primitivo Rojas
June 10, 1928 - Feb. 25, 2020

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA – Primitivo Rojas, passed peacefully in Chico while his son Roberto was holding his hand; Primitivo lived with his son Roberto, and his family in Chico since 2015.

He was 91 years old. He was born in Mexico to Augustine and Susana Rojas.

Primitivo worked in agriculture his whole life. He married Basilia Fajardo Rojas who passed in 2013; they were married for 58 years. Primitivo's passions included fishing and absolutely loved pruning, especially pear trees.

Primitivo is survived by Primitivo Rojas-Cheatham Jr., Roberto and Raul Rojas and Nellie Rojas, and five granddaughters.
