LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Wayne was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1939, moved to California in 1950 and became a business owner in Jack London Village.

Wayne moved to Lake County in 1983 where he enjoyed his passion for gardening and traveling.

He is survived by his partner of 53 years, Mark Cogdill.

Wesley Speirs Comstock was born in Deer Park, California, on Nov. 11, 1978. He passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 17, 2020.

Wes spent his early years playing and working outdoors on the family cattle ranch in the Coyote Valley near Middletown, California. He grew up splitting firewood, fixing fence, swimming in Putah Creek, and hunting with his dad, mom, brothers and sister. Even after high school, Wes returned the ranch almost every year for opening day of deer season.

Wes attended school in Middletown, graduating from Middletown High School in 1997. He served a mission for the LDS church in Argentina and after attended BYU, where he received a degree in Global Business in 2003. After BYU Wes pursued a career in the medical industry before going back to school to receive his MBA in global management from Thunderbird School of Global Management in 2013.

Throughout his life Wes developed a love for sports, playing football and baseball for his high school teams, and later Rugby during his time at Thunderbird. He loved the San Francisco Giants from childhood, attending games over the years at both Candlestick and China Basin. During the time he lived in San Francisco he was a season ticket holder and was fortunate to see them win three world series championships.

Wes also loved to travel. He traveled through most of South America, Europe, and parts of East Asia both for work and for pleasure, often living for extensive periods of time abroad. He loved to experience the new cultures he encountered in each country and found it easy to make friends all over the world.

Wes is survived by his son Ryder, Ryder’s mother Sarah, parents Jim and Colleen Comstock (Middletown, California), siblings James Comstock (wife Luwanna, children James and Tiara Comstock, Tigard, Oregon) Erin Cherry (husband Steve, children Allyson, Eva, Colton, Middletown, California) and Marshall Comstock (wife Beth, child Kuahiwi, Kaneohe, Hawaii), and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service honoring Wes’ life and memory will be held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 8 at the LDS chapel located at 14970 Lakeview Way, in Clearlake, California.

Donations can be made to the San Francisco Giants Community Fund.

Wes’ ashes will be privately interred on the Comstock Ranch.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Virginia Ruth Montgomery, formerly Virginia Rasmussen, age 96, passed away on Dec. 11, 2019.

Virginia was born in Texas and moved to California as a child. She lived in Kelseyville California for most of her adult life and raised her seven children there.

She was a painter and used her painting as a form of communication to express beauty that she found everywhere. Her paintings can be found in several galleries in California and in many private collections. She often said, “If my paintings can give other people happiness, then I am happy.”

She was a member of the Kelseyville Presbyterian Church. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. Virginia truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. She enjoyed visiting with her family, going for walks, listening to music and sunbathing in the garden.

Preceded in death by her children Dave, Patsy, Phil and Marti Ann.

Celebration of her life to reminisce and share stories will be held at noon on Feb. 8 at Kelseyville Presbyterian Church, 5340 Third St., Kelseyville. Her ashes will be laid to rest with her late husband Martin Rasmussen per her wishes.
