Saccato has recently authored her first book, “Companioning the Sacred Journey: A Guide to Creating a Compassionate Container for Your Spiritual Practice.”

In addition to sharing about the process of writing the book, Saccato will present some of the practical techniques for bringing wakefulness and compassion to our lives.

Saccato, a native of Lake County, will explore the cornerstones of journaling, affirming and mindfulness.

Worship Committee Chairperson Linda Guebert notes that these activities, “interconnect with and support the UU principles and tenets.”

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The Clearlake Community United Methodist Church welcomed Cindy Lawler, its new pastor, this month.

Lawler comes to Clearlake from Tehachapi.

Her interests include youth work, gardening sewing and cooking.

She is a graduate of the Pacific School of Religion TEL Program and is very excited about her new charge following Karl Parker and most recently John Pavoni as pastor for this dynamic church.

“I am very excited about getting to know this area and the people,” Lawler said. “Everyone has shown me such a warm welcome that I can’t wait to begin giving back.”

She continued, "I know that we are not perfect and it is sometimes hard to learn from a perfect example like our Lord,” so over the next several weeks she is offering a sermon series she's calling “Bad to the Bone?” in which she will explore some of the bad boys and girls from the Bible.

Sunday services at Clearlake Community United Methodist Church are held at 11 a.m. The church is located at 14521 Pearl St.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The service on Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Unitarian Universalist Community of Lake County will be presented by James BlueWolf, award-winning author and former Lake County Poet Laureate.

The service begins at 11 a.m. at the church, located at First and Main streets in Kelseyville.

Guests are welcome.

BlueWolf will speak on “Indigenous Spirituality: Respect, Relationship, Mystery and Magic.”

Of his talk, BlueWolf said, “Indigenous spirituality proceeds from a different viewpoint than many of the world’s traditional religions. Rather than being centered on the individual's relationship to a belief or dogma, the indigenous peoples do not separate themselves and their spirituality from their environment, focusing on the whole of creation finding balance, rather than a salvation of the self.”

BlueWolf has lived around Clear Lake since 1981. He is the author of “Speaking for Fire,” a tale presented in lyrical storytelling style and lavishly illustrated with cut-paper designs by Carolyn Wing Greenlee, as well as many other books of poetry and lore.
