KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – On Sunday, April 1, a special dedication service will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Community of Lake County.
The service begins at 11 a.m. at the church, located at 3810 Main St. in Kelseyville.
“A House of Hope, Healing and Transformation” is the title of the sermon which will be delivered by consulting minister Reverend Dan Kane.
The service will include music by the church choir as well as the singing of UU hymns.
“The service will be a dedication of our spiritual home and ourselves to the principles and values that undergird our liberal religious tradition,” said Kane.
Guests are invited to attend to learn more about this denomination. A luncheon will follow the dedication service. All are welcome.
Since November of last year, the UUCLC has been sharing space in Kelseyville with the United Methodist Congregation.
To celebrate the new shared space, work has been done to renovate parts of the historic church building.
The wood floors in the sanctuary have been refinished and new banners which celebrate Unitarian diversity of thought have been hung for use during the UU services.
In the words of the Unitarian Universalist Association, “Unitarian Universalism is a liberal religion with Jewish-Christian roots.
It has no creed. It affirms the worth of human beings, advocates freedom of belief and the search for advancing truth, and offers a warm, open, supportive community for people who believe that ethical living is the supreme witness of religion.”
