Volunteers who operate the Food Pantry say a great big "thanks" to Marjorie Anderson, her colleagues and customers at H&R Block, Lakeport, who collected and delivered this most timely donation.
The collaboration of H & R Block and St. John's Episcopal Church in Lakeport is an example of community efforts coming together to care for needy families.
Ongoing food donations to sustain St. John’s vital service are needed and appreciated.
“Families who cook meals are our key clients,” said Ginny Ingersoll, St. John’s parishioner and Food Pantry manager. “We focus on stocking nutritional food that is high-fiber, low in fat and sugar. We help create meals with recipes and food listed in a brochure by Grocery Outlet.
“Rice, tomato sauce, salsa and canned garbanzo, kidney and black beans are needed, along with oatmeal and applesauce,” she said. “Onions, garlic, apples, and carrots are also requested.”
Food donations are welcome at St. John’s during times coinciding with the church’s Basement Boutique Thrift Store open hours, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

MIDDLETOWN, Calif. – Hear nationally recognized Nashville gospel music trio The Blackwood Legacy at Middletown Methodist Church on Tuesday, Jan. 10.
The performance starts at 7 p.m.
Admission is free and a love offering will be accepted.

The church will present the following concerts:
Saturday, Jan. 7, 4 p.m.: Kathy Schallert of the Loud Cry Ministry will perform with other musicians.
Thursday, Jan. 12, 7 p.m.: The Blackwood Legacy – a trio from Nashville, Tenn. – will sing Southern Gospel music.
Thursday, Feb. 9, 7 p.m.: Dr. Calvin Taylor will perform a religious and patriotic concert.
All concerts will be in the sanctuary and free will offering will be taken up.

Pastor Shannon Kimbell-Auth said the candlelight Christmas Eve service will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24.
There will be candlelight, music, friends and a message of joy and hope for the whole family.
The church's Christmas morning service will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday.
Join the church as it celebrates this holy day with music, fellowship and a relevant message about the true meaning of Christmas that the whole family will enjoy.
Both services are appropriate for the whole family and have a special time for the children.
Communion will be served Christmas morning but not Christmas Eve.
The Chancel Choir and Wing and a Prayer will both be a part of the musical offerings for each service.
