Skeet Reese Big Bass Battle launches Saturday

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The Skeet Reese Big Bass Battle presented by Reese Fishing was announced earlier this year, and the event, hosted at the historic Konocti Harbor Resort in Kelseyville, Calif. on the shores of Clear Lake kicks off Saturday morning.

To add to the historic nature of the setting, the number of anglers participating in the event may be of historic levels as well.

As of the close of entries at 9 p.m. Thursday, 487 anglers had entered the event and will be competing for hourly Big Bass prizes as well as the grand prize of a Ranger Z519 powered by a Mercury ProXS225 outboard rigged with Lowrance electronics, Power Pole Move trolling motor, Charge and 8-foot Blade Shallow Water Anchors – a prize package valued at $90,000 will be awarded to the angler who catches the largest bass throughout the course of the two-day event.

The event actually kicked off Thursday night with a livestreamed “Skeet’s Take on Clear Lake” event in the restaurant at Konocti Harbor Resort that brought professional anglers Byron Velvick, Jimmy Reese, local guides and pro anglers Nathan Phillips and Paul Bailey and Ranger Boats Rep and the host of Ultimate Bass Radio in Sacramento Kent Brown together to greet anglers and share tips for fishing the event.

The evening was culminated by a full session with Reese sharing his thoughts on the event and how he would fish it if he was in the field. 

The official opening of the Skeet Reese Big Bass Battle was Friday night with a banquet for participants and guests presented by Gone Fishin’ Marine.

The event is presented by Reese Fishing, Bass Pro Shops, Ranger Boats, Mercury, Lowrance and Power Pole. Other event sponsors include: Kastking, BUBBA, Sea Guide, Wiley X, Gone Fishin’ Marine and Konocti Harbor Resort.  

Saturday morning the tournament begins with hourly weigh-ins, and at the conclusion of the day, an opportunity to gather at the Bass Pro Shops Social at Shannon Mercantile Winery for a wine tasting at the Mercantile and free beer provided by Crooked Goat Brewery with live music and food for purchase at a variety of food trucks that will be in attendance.

On Sunday, day two of the tournament commences, and following the final weigh-in at 5:00PM. The Ranger Prize Boat will be awarded. 

The sample hourly payout based on a full field of 400 participants is as below.

First: $1,000.
Second: $500.
Third: $300.
Fourth: $250.
Fifth: $225.
Sixth: $200.
Seventh: $175.
Eighth: $150.
Ninth: $125.
10th: $100.

Hourly payouts are $21,175 per day, based on 400 entries.

In addition to the event payouts the Reese Fishing Big Bass Battle is sanctioned for all White River contingency programs, Ranger Cup, Triton Gold and Nitro Rewards.

For customers who own or purchase a Reese Fishing rod for the event an additional contingency will be available. 

For the highest finishing hourly big bass prize winners who can show a photo of their catch at the event with their Reese Fishing rod in their hand with the fish, they will earn an additional $200 bonus, and if the overall big bass of the event is caught on a Reese Fishing rod with – accompanying photo proof – that angler will receive a $2,000 contingency bonus.
