LAKEPORT, Calif. – Calling all children who love to sing or act.

United Christian Parish is excited to the announce open enrollment for iSing, the church's children’s choir.

Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 2, iSing will start rehearsals for the Christmas musical.

There are five main character roles available and a dozen supporting actors, four or five solos, an angel choir that raps instead of sings and of course the full choir.

Membership in iSing is open to kindergarten through eighth grade students and is open to any child in the community.

There is no registration fee to be in the choir or the play. Students who come to the first rehearsal will get a free practice CD of the entire musical plus a poster to advertise their role in the play (whether they act or sing). Preregistration is required if you want a CD so they can be sure we have enough.

This year’s musical is “Chris-myth Busters!”

Ethan has a new brother, Michael. Only Michael's not a cute little bundle of joy. He's a pretty big kid ... adopted ... and an annoying trivia buff.

When Michael starts busting some myths about Christmas to Ethan's friends they begin to wonder: Were there three wise men? Was Jesus born on Dec. 25? Did the angels sing?

As they turn to scripture they discover that while some facts about the first Christmas might be unclear, the truth about why Jesus came is everywhere.

Details on the play, parts available and how kids can audition will be shared at the first rehearsal Oct. 2 (or if you are really excited you can contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for a preview copy).

Rehearsals are each Wednesday from Oct. 2 through Dec. 11 with the performance on Dec. 15.

The daily rehearsal schedule looks like this: 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., students are invited to arrive early for snacks, homework help and free play on the playground. From 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. they rehearse the music. From 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. those with speaking parts stay behind to work on their scenes (note every actor does not need to stay every week – it depends on which scenes they are rehearsing that week).

For more details or to receive a registration form please contact choir director Pastor Shannon at 707-263-4788 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
