Lakeport, CA 95453
(707) 263-2221

These notices shall satisfy two separate but related procedural requirements for activities to be undertaken by the County of Lake.

On or about April 17, 2026, the County of Lake  will  submit a request to the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD)/ US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)  for the release of 2018 Community Development Block Grant Mitigation and Resilient Infrastructure Program (CDBG-MIT RIP; Grant Number 18-MIT-RIP-23006) funds in the amount of $1,385,407.12. $981,407.12 was the initial award provided by California Natural Resources Agency [CNRA], and an additional $404,000 was provided by HUD to undertake a project known as the Clear Lake LG Sonic Buoy Harmful Algal Bloom Mitigation Project, located in the Lower Arm of Clear Lake near the City of Clearlake in Lake County, California (38 57 04.9, -122 38 56.5). The Project is a pilot project (24 months) that aims to reduce the harmful impacts of nuisance blue-green algae and cyanobacteria, while reducing the processing costs for drinking water purveyors by deploying buoys that utilize ultrasonic waves that decrease algae, reducing bloom frequency and severity.

The County of Lake has determined that the project will have no significant impact on the human environment. Therefore, an Environmental Impact Statement under the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) is not required. An Environmental Review Record (ERR) that documents the environmental determinations for this project is on file at the Lake County Community Development Department-Planning Division, located at 255 N.
